Hey there, its me, Dominik 44 years and living in Cologne, Germany. I work as a manager in the field of software development, developing agile teams always with the goal of creating more value for the customer.
As far back as I can remember it all started with the Nike Air Tech Challenge. Because of his neon colors and their style, I was immediately a fan of this pair. Only a few years later I got my hands on my first Nike Air Max 1 and fell in love with this silhouette.
It was the Nike Air Tech Challenge which was promoted and made for Andre Agassi when it comes to the Swoosh and the Adidas Streetball Pair (Black&Orange) when this was big in the early ´90s.
Tried many over the years but only stuck to the best silhouette imho the Nike Air Max 1. I am more into the older pairs from the early 2000´s (or older) which are still the best despite their age. For some months I have become more and more attentive to New Balance through the community and also have here one or the other model. The quality, appearance and comfort simply convinced me here.
5. How many sneakers do you have in your collection?
So around ~50 I would say. But that reminds me once again to count exactly. Thanks for the impulse. 🙂
6. What’s your favorite pair from your collection?
Really a difficult question. I have a few favorite Pairs though but I am always a fan of simplicity (less is more) and love the Nike Air Max 1 Patta Chlorophyll. That pair got me when it released but I wasn’t able to grab one. Over the years I was finally able to get a pair and I love them every time when they are on feet.
Older pairs always. But when to name some it is the Wings n Waffles which from their simplicity and story got me, the Patta Purple and Lucky Green.
For a long time it was one of Germany’s top sneaker stores, TGWO – The Good Will Out based here in Cologne until it went bankrupt in 2018. Since then I’m more online at the usual suspects like Overkill, Solebox, Afew and BSTN… But also worldwide whenever there is a chance.
I am open to at least try. So I also tried this or that Yeezy model but it never clicked. Therefore I can say that these are not mine.
Definitely the Nike Air Max 1 Polka Dot/Square from 2007 with the blue mudguard. I was always on the hunt but never found my right size until this year when I was able to make a trade and cross the pair off my bucket list. As luck would have it another pair showed up a week later so I now have 2 of them in my collection. Still looking for an AM1 Urawa in US10.
Do what you like and get in touch with the community. There u learn more about the craziness and you can exchange ideas among like-minded people.
It is always hard to define „a“ steal. Compared with the last years hypes and BOTs that everyone is a reseller makes every successful Retail Pair Cop feel like a steal. But to have at least one steal I would say a DS Pair of Curry AM1 from 2003. It needed a swap obviously but still was worth it.
Good question. But the real Life (Family & Friends) always comes first! But I think 1-3hrs a day is a good range. Always depends if its a weekday or weekend. Mostly in the evenings then, chatting with people which became friends over time even we never met until now about Sneakers, selling offers, trades or just infos.
Always hard to understand for everyone who is not into sneakers. „What do you want with that many pairs…“ is the most common question. But wearing every day a different pair and even more chatting with the community is what makes it so interesting.
