Sneakerplaats interview with @rshoe_dshoe
1. Who (are you?), What (do you for a living?), Where (do you live?)
Hi everyone. First of all thanks for inviting me!!! My name is Rafaela and I am from Düsseldorf, Germany. I am a tattoo artist and run my own business since 13 years.
Tattooing is my big passion besides collecting sneakers. But I have another passion and that’s Star Wars!! I am an absolutely Star Wars nerd and hence the name rshoe_dshoe. R2 is my favorite character, so I combined 2 passions.
2. When did your love for sneakers start and why do you love sneakers so much?
My sneaker love started cause of my boyfriend. I was always (since childhood) interested in fashion, but I was totally into skateboard fashion and vans. When I started my apprenticeship for tattooing I had to work as a waitress besides.
Than my boyfriend told me to buy better shoes cause I had to walk so much, and there you go. I bought my first pair of Nike Air Max 1.
I started to deal with that kind of model and started to love the silhouette, design and quality. So the love was awakened.
3. Do you remember your first pair of sneakers?
Oh I really can’t remember. I just can remember that my first “interesting” pair was the wmns Nike Air Max 1 “Black Leopard”. So the hunt for extraordinary pairs was on, haha.
What I will never forget is that my boyfriend was the one (again haha) who made me buy the Nike Air Max 1 Patta x Parra “Cherrywood” at Sneakerness Amsterdam years ago. It was the first pair of pattas I got.
Outsole (greetings to these nice guys) had them in my size and my boyfriend said to me “you won’t find them that easy in your size again, so go for it, you won’t regret it”.
4. What’s your favorite brand and model?
Nike is my favorite brand for sure!!! At the beginning I collected exclusively Air Max 1. But as you know it doesn’t stay just with one model so I went for Jordan 1 and Dunks.
Yea, these are my 3 favorite models. I also like a lot other models optically, but do you know the problem when you like something on a different person but not on yourself? That’s the way.
5. How many sneakers do you have in your collection?
Way to many. Must be around 150 pairs. But I try hard to wear them all. In my opinion shoes are made to be rocked (some more carefully and some not that carefully).
And while wearing them I can be happy about the shoe the whole day.
6. What’s your favorite pair from your collection?
Uff, that’s an interesting and not easy question cause I love so many and it varies often
first of all the whole Patta collection:
- Nike Air Max 1 elephant
- Jordan 1 Union
- Dunk Strangelove
- Dunk Travis
- Jordan 1 Spiderman
7. Which pair(s) are still on your wish list?
The absolutely dream for me (lifegoal) is the Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Supreme Animal pack”.
That’s the holy grail for me and I would sell an organ for it haha (joking). No, it’s really the most beautiful pair ever for me. So if anyone wanna sell a pair in size us5 here I am!!!!
8. Do you have a favorite sneakerstore or -shop?
For me AFEW STORE Düsseldorf is one of the best sneaker stores. Even if I buy a lot elsewhere (stockx, raffles, sneaker events, other collectors) it’s the perfect shop and I hope you already visited AFEW.
It’s a beautiful shop and I love that they have terminals where you can scan every shoe they have in store to check which sizes and cw are in stock. And also you can buy everything from the online shop in store itself.
Seb (instagram @sebmorgner) who works for AFEW STORE and me are knowing each other more than 10 years. He is a super good and creative photographer and so he does a lot of my pics. Probs goes out to him.
Outsole.nl is a shop I really like a lot as well cause the guys are super kind and great collectors. I bought a lot of nice Air Max 1 there.
Another shop I like pretty much is Overkill Berlin. Especially the women’s store is one of the most pretty girl stores I’ve ever seen. And I like their graffiti background.
9. Which brand and / or model would you never wear in your life? And why is that?
I cannot name a brand at the moment, but what I would never never never ever wear and find super ugly is a shoe where the toes are separated. it’s catastrophic!!!!
10. Where can people follow you on your socials?
On instagram it’s @rshoe_dshoe. I always had just my tattoo account (@rafaela2die4). But I wanted to share my other passion too. And cause of the most people only conform to one thing I started to make this account.
